SPRING

Spring has finally arrived after a long, dreary winter. It is a joy to see the magnolia trees blossom, followed by the cherry trees. Spring is a beloved season that awakens the mind, body, and soul. It inspires us to improve our wellbeing and our homes.

The Meaning of Easter

Easter arrives early this season, bringing a sense of hope. It is a significant holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This represents a victory over death and the promise of eternal life. The date is set by the lunar calendar, falling on the first Sunday after the full moon following the spring equinox. During these troubling times of war, we hope that peace and harmony will prevail.

Ancient Symbols

The word Easter likely comes from Eostre, a goddess of spring. Many modern symbols come from ancient celebrations of the spring equinox.

  • Eggs: A symbol of new life and growth.

  • Rabbits: Represent the abundance of nature.

  • Lilies: Symbolise purity and the return of life.

The Easter Palette

Easter colours are full of light and joy. Popular choices include soft pastels like pink, baby blue, lavender, mint green, and pale yellow. Traditional liturgical colours also include white and gold for resurrection, and purple for reflection.

Colour of the Month: Shapwick Gold

Our colour of the month is Shapwick Gold from the Somerset Collection. It is made with Yellow Oxide and a touch of Magenta to create a beautiful glow. As seen in this image by Kate Guinness Design, it is a strong yet sophisticated yellow.
