As we edge toward the end of the year, the studio has been glowing—quite literally. Winter always invites deeper, moodier colours, and they’ve been dancing beautifully under the studio lights as we mix. It’s been a joy to spend this month working with such rich tones; because secretly the darker, stronger colours are my personal favourites, and this has been one of the most exciting mixing periods we’ve had.
Studio Updates (and my brief career as “Acting Boss”)
While Francesca continues her incredible journey through India, I’ve officially been holding down the fort—juggling client orders with the occasional check in from Francesca. Let’s just say I’ve learned that managing a paint studio is one thing… managing a paint studio and Francesca’s curiosity about what’s happening is another!
That said, it’s been nothing but positive. The whole team has pulled together with so much energy and heart that we’ve actually had one of the best months in the company’s 29 year history.
Alice has been settling in wonderfully and bringing fresh enthusiasm to the phone lines and emails, Stevie has—as always—been a rock of steady expertise, and Hunter (Stevie’s ever-faithful Labrador) has contributed his usual calming presence, snoring contentedly through even the busiest colour-matching marathons. Between mixing, colour matching, and hosting visitors, we’ve somehow become a well-oiled machine—albeit a humorous one.
Holiday Closing Times
A few important notes as we head toward the festive break:
Last paint orders: 15th December
Clients may collect orders until: 18th December
Last online orders for samples: 16th December
Studio closes: 19th December
We reopen: 5th January at 10am
Colour of the Month
Dune 45 II from our Namibian Sands Collection has always been one of our best selling colours, all year round. In the summer and on brighter days it heats a space with it’s dusty clay-like qualities. In the darker eras, where we predominantly rely on lamplight, it brims with ochres, browns and pinks – umbers, reds and oxides which hum and buzz into a cozy atmosphere which envelop you. This colour looks phenomenal when colour drenched over ceilings and walls, and can easily find its wooden pairings to fully immerse you.
A Festive Thank You
