June 2026 News: A Feast for the Senses

May is one of my favourite months—the Month of Flowers and the time when the Royal Chelsea Flower Show comes to life. This year, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting for a very special reason. One of our wonderful clients, Emerald Brown, owner of ODD Limited (https://www.oddlimited.com/), painted her gorgeous exhibition stand using our colours.

We had so much fun choosing and mixing the colours together at the studio alongside the stand’s designer, the formidable Sean A Pritchard. To bring their vision to life, I hand-mixed a custom colour—a deep, earthy terracotta pink designed to seamlessly match the textiles used throughout the display. Alongside this custom shade, they chose Freedom, a beautiful, soft blue with a touch of a green undertone from our Poison into Medicine collection (https://francescaspaint.com/product/freedom/).

The stand showcased a divine garden seat that was the absolute epitome of luxury. It was a swinging seat designed to comfortably host three people, sheltered by a parasol in a vivid emerald green that perfectly matched her name.

Wandering through the rest of the show was a complete delight for the senses. Visually, it was a pure feast, ranging from the softest, most delicate pale hues of pinks, oranges, yellows, and whites, to the strongest. Every single combination was absolutely perfect—nature always is. The air was thick with the beautiful perfume and incredible aromas of the plants. It was wonderfully tactile, too—a physical exploration of textures, from shiny, spongy leaves and sharp spikes to velvety foliage and silky petals. And, of course, there was the constant, busy hum of bumblebees. What a total joy.

   News from the Studio

The studio has been incredibly busy lately. I am mixing a lot of paint to try and accommodate every single order before our break. Our shaker machine blew up and I had to get a new one, so for three days, I had to mix every single bucket of paint entirely by hand. Normally, I do a quick manual mix to check the colour and then let the machine do the rest of the shaking, but this week I had to mix like the old times.

As you know, our 30th anniversary is approaching this November. After three decades, I feel ready to take a big leap. I am disappearing for two months this summer because I want to write my book on colour. I am going to India, the land and soul of colours. I hope to come back with a wealth of material. Writing this book is my mission. I will always be the colour woman and paint chef mixer—I love it deeply—but I also want to write, I feel I have the knowledge and authority to do so, and learn new things, study, and explore other aspects of life.

                  Colour of the Month: Green

The colour of the month has to be any shade of green. I mixed so many greens, from light, to strong and deep, almost black. With yellow undertones, or blue or brown.. The most popular choice has been the Sensitised Ground, from Poison into Medicine Collection: deep, strong, yet incredibly calming and peaceful, but always with a definite personality.
