A Busy Start to the Year

This year is moving at the speed of light; I cannot believe that it is March already! February has been incredibly busy. We have mixed a myriad of off-whites alongside some beautiful accent shades. All our colours are hand-mixed, and we check each one individually to ensure they are absolutely perfect.

The Enduring Appeal of Off-Whites

I was recently asked by a journalist why I think off-white is such a loved colour. It is important to remember that in England, brilliant white should generally be avoided; the English light can make it look cold and grey. To create depth and a peaceful, soft atmosphere, pigments must be added to neutralise the coldness of the white. There are an infinite number of off-whites—by adding just a hint of pigment, you can create a tone that leans towards yellow, green, pink, or brown. The most vital rule, however, is that it is never just brilliant white. White represents purity, honesty, gentleness, and calmness.

Our Unique Colour Collections

Our collections are designed with hues that naturally complement one another. They can be mixed with all other colours as desired, but they look particularly beautiful when used together within their specific collection. Lately, most of our orders have focused on these curated schemes. We are unique among paint manufacturers because we do not group colours by simple categories like “reds” or “greens.” Instead, every collection tells a story, forming a perfect palette that helps you make your colour decisions with ease.

A Writing Workshop at the Home of Raffaella Barker

I recently spent an enchanting weekend with a group of fascinating women writers for a workshop hosted by Raffaella Barker—a long-standing client and a wonderful writer. Her home is painted entirely in our colours. Raffaella is remarkably talented at combining shades and is never afraid to experiment. Because she uses them so skilfully, her house feels calm, inviting, and suits her perfectly.

Peace White, from Off-white Collection 1, is the colour of the month and is featured in the March issue of 25 Beautiful Homes magazine. Originally created during the war in Iraq, this shade serves as a reminder that true colours are not mere trends; they endure through history. While fashions fade, elegant and stylish shades remain timeless. Created using only Raw Umber—the oldest pigment known to humankind—Peace White is a fresh, peaceful tone that lends a sophisticated and calm atmosphere to every interior.

The days are getting longer; soon the colours of spring will be out to keep us company.
Have a good month. I will be back in April.
Best,
Francesca
