Lime Wash Primer
THE PRODUCT
Francesca’s Lime Wash Primer is made with selected quartz and sands, and it has been designed to allow the application of the lime wash on surfaces where normally it would not be possible to apply, for example Gypsum plaster, filled and previously painted surfaces.
Francesca’s Lime Wash Primer is breathable and acts like a support between the surface that needs to be painted and the Lime Wash. It can be used internally and externally.
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION
Before application, surfaces must be cleared of loose material, grease and oil.
Francesca’s Lime Wash Primer ONLY needs one coat. For over filled surfaces, the Lime Wash Primer can be applied directly to the filled area, then leave to dry for 24 hours. Then apply one even coat of the lime wash primer all over the required area.
It is VERY IMPORTANT to allow 24 hours before the application of the lime wash because the lime wash primer needs to harden. If you apply the lime wash before and the surface has not hardened, then the lime wash will always look for the surface underneath and the finish will come out very patchy.
The lime wash primer can be applied by roller or by brush but note that the finish has to be very even to create the perfect base for the lime wash. The primer allows the lime wash to breath and to create the carbonation of the lime.
Dilute Francesca’s Lime Wash Primer with 10 – 15% of water. 100 to 150 MLS OF WATER FOR 1 LITRE OF PRIMER.
COVERAGE: 4 – 6 square metres over 1 coat.
CLEANING
Remove as much product as possible from application equipment before washing. Wash tools immediately after use in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Do not empty product into drains or watercourses.
