Why are we different from other paint companies? We are old-fashioned artisans and mix and make everything in the Studio.
We started trading in 1996 and have been living and breathing paints and colours since then. We were one of the first eco paint companies in the UK.
We offer ecological paints, like the lime wash and the eco emulsion which are plastic-free and breathable. We also offer other modern paints like soft sheen, oil based eggshell and water based eggshell, water based gloss paint, oil based gloss paint and flat oil paint.
We are paint and colour enthusiasts and provide a unique service. We really care about what we do and how we do it.
Our aim is to help you find the perfect paint and colour solution to suit your needs.
To make the colour choice easier, we have always hand painted all our colour cards. We have a range of 241 colours, 25 Collections, but really, our range of colours is unlimited – we create and formulate new colours all the time.
All our colours come in an A4 page and 75 mls sample pots. It’s always a good idea to test a colour out and never base the colour on what you see in photographs because colours, especially our paints, are very absorbent of the light and they change throughout the day.
We send our paints in recycled boxes (and always have) as we try to be as conscious as possible about the environment.
We use plastic buckets because they are easier to clean. We did a little survey with our clients, and they all preferred plastic to tin. Our buckets are recyclable, so once they have been used they can be put in the recycle bin.
We like a friendly and human approach to be sure that you are getting the right paint product. We ask our customers to email or call us to place an order. You can only order our colour cards, A4s and sample pots online.
We are a very small team consisting of Francesca, the founder and boss, always with her apron on, and her hands and glasses speckled with paint. Wren, our new addition who we adore, is helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. And Stevie, our colour charts maker, plus Bubu, the Tibetan terrier, and Hunter, the blonde labrador.
Our Studio is open Monday to Thursday from 10 am – 5 pm. It is a very working but wonderful studio, where all colours are displayed on the wall. Our mixing room is one of the most photographed rooms ever, especially the working table. All the furniture in our Studio is upcycled.

COLOUR OF THE MONTH
The colour of the month is Dew from the Solace Collection.
Gentle, unassuming, and warm, this colour is crafted with green, yellow ochre, along with burnt and raw umber, and carries a subtle yellow undertone. It is a capable colour with so many different aspects about it. It can look very clean and neat, but it can also look deep and intense, depending on the light. A serene shade that pairs well with dark blue, pink, red, off white, dark ochre, orange and so many other colours.
Green is a versatile colour that can evoke feelings of calmness, vitality, and balance. It has an ability to create a sense of harmony, and connection to nature within a space. Whether used sparingly as accents or as the dominant colour in a room, green has the power to enhance the overall look and feel of a space, while promoting a sense of tranquillity and connection to the natural world.
